Getting Ready for Show

This winter has been an interesting time to get our animals ready for show. We are never sure if it is going to snow, rain, or be 60 degrees outside. Some days we do lead training in the barn, and other days we are able to do a walkabout around the yard. For the most part the alpacas have been learning the skills needed for the ring. We love Fall

We love Fall. It is perfect weather to put on alpaca to chase away those evening chills. And we are gathering our final produce from the garden and canning beans and tomatoes. The fall salad greens are doing great; our Fall kale is very good this year. The studio is humming, too, with spinning, weaving and felting our alpaca into wonderful garments and accessories.

Enjoying the first fire of Fall

Fall is probably our favorite season of the year. It is in the Fall that the warmth and softness of our alpaca fiber reveals itself again. This year our first fire of the Fall was on our new patio behind the house. It has been a very busy summer getting the patio completed and the yard fixed up.

Pickin’ Apples in Alpaca Warmth

Fall is finally here after a very dry summer, but our fruit crop has been outstanding all year.  The apples this Fall are no exception.  We picked seven bushels of apples today in the cool, windy autumn sun.  It felt like Fall and we reveled in the beauty of it.  Janetta kept warm in one of our hand-knit shawls and berets in natural fiber from our alpacas Zoe, Capuccino and Jetson.
